Visually, the raw cashew fruit is made up
of two distinct parts- the fleshy cashew apple and the nut itself
that sprouts from the bottom of the fruit.
|
The name comes from the Brazilian Indian name acaju,
which the Portuguese termed caju. Originally cultivated in Brazil
and other tropical countries, Africa and India now produce more than
90% of the worlds supply.

The cashew kernel is naturally low in cholesterol,
and is a good source of magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and copper.
